What were the days after 9/11 like? by argonautsin AskReddit

[–]roofuskit 0 points1 point ago

That's what the supreme court is for... hopefully.

EDIT:I guess my point is that if we're exempt, at least we're capable of speaking out against it.

Having citizens exempt makes it better for citizens.

It was actually what I was trying to say. But he filled you in correctly.

"Ouch" might be and understatement.

Research shows that power corrupts. Just because you don't think it doesn't make it not so.

This is partly because one of the drafts made available to the public had been altered to exclude American citizens. The actually signed law did not.

But they don't prevent attacks. Most prevented attacks since 9/11 have actually been incited by undercover US agents who setup "terrorists" then arrest them for the crimes the agents incited.

Also, consider that the NDAA's indefinite detention act would not exist in a pre 9/11 world. It allows the military to hold American citizens without trial indefinitely.

It's disgusting that it ever was signed into law. If we're lucky the courts will find it unconstitutional.

Yeah, I hadn't considered that in europe most cards contain a chip in addition to the RFID. In the US most debit or credit cards only contain the RFID chip, if anything.

For example,

  • Under the so-called “library provision” of the USA PATRIOT Act, the government can demand that custodians of records – including librarians, schools, social work institutions, and internet service providers (who, in these days of cloud computing, have access to a mind-boggling array of information about us) — turn over those records without having to explain to a court why they want those records, or whether the person who is the subject of the records has done anything suspicious.

  • Under the expanded “National Security Letter,” the FBI and other agencies can demand some records from telecommunications and financial services providers without any court order at all and then gag the recipients.

  • Patriot Act amendments let the government spy on Americans using a Cold War era statute designed for tracking the covert activities of Soviet agents.

Those are just a few from a laundry list of unchecked powers the PATRIOT act gives to government agencies.

Every time you see a headline that mentions some horrible thing the TSA did to an airline passenger, remember it wasn't that way before.

The US narrowly survived the communist witch hunt, and now we have a terrorist witch hunt. The only people witch hunts serve, are those interested in taking and keeping power for themselves.

Always remember, power is addictive, power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.

I would guess that the EMP would knock out both, but it may be that the RFID is more susceptible because of the way it's designed to work wirelessly. The RFID antenna is made to draw in the electromagnetic energy to power the chip, so the EMP overloads it.

But EMPs are dangerous to many things.

Some people actually build them for their sound quality, not just the wow factor. I've seen some small and controlled nicely finished ones intended for home sound systems.

I do agree though, having a giant blaring speaker made of lightning is fun. For as long as it lasts anyway.

Your username is a title of a book by Stephen King. What happens in the story? by Iamthegoodguyin AskReddit

[–]roofuskit -1 points0 points ago

It's not him, the real Stephen King would just rip off a shitty book he already wrote.

Do you really think that someone who doesn't know the difference between Eugenics and Incest has any idea what the "does not equal" sign means?

For less characters next time use !=

Don't tell them when they're young enough to repeat it without knowing the consequences. And don't tell them when they're going through puberty.

Something everyone should remember. People who were young when 9/11 happened think that everything is normal now. They don't realize how much liberty we've lost.
