A proposal to give NYC two things it lacks canals and a waterfront boardwalk by Wayw4rdin nyc

[–]scriptedlife 7 points8 points ago

The article mentions all the rats in the East River...

...then goes on to pitch a plan for Canals leading from the East River, further into Manhattan.

You say Canals, I say Rat Boulevards

NYC's Best Barber Shops by andrewtockin nyc

This list seems more like "scene" places than actually good (and reasonably priced) barbers.

Tommy Guns, for example, is a ridiculously overpriced chain men's salon that will charge: $75 for a haircut

Any moped riders or collectors in NYC? by clayclayclayin nyc

[–]scriptedlife 0 points1 point ago

For almost all mopeds, all you need is to spend a few bucks registering it as a CLASS C MOPED http://www.dmv.ny.gov/recreation.htm#mopeds

It doesn't require you get anything more than a Drivers License, and you don't need insurance at all.

All you need to do is go to the DMV with pictures of the VIN, your license, any sort of Bill of Sale or Title or proof of ownership, and tell them you want to register as Class C

New East River Bridges Toll Proposal Goes After Everyone, Including Bicyclists!!! by btighe428in nyc

This is really interesting, I was curious what the two different types of traffic, (at two different price points) would net the city, here's what I found:

BIKE TRAFFIC: at $0.5 per bike (src here)

  • Brooklyn Bridge: 2,322 daily riders = $1,161/day
  • Manhattan Bridge: 3,617 daily riders = $1,808.50/day
  • Williamsburg Bridge: 4,515 daily riders = $2,257.50/day
  • Total: 10,454 daily riders or $5,227/day

CAR TRAFFIC: at $5/car (src here)

  • Brooklyn Bridge: 125,021 daily = $625,105
  • Manhattan Bridge : 71,936 daily = $359,680
  • Williamsburg Bridge: 108,194 daily = $540,970
  • TOTAL: 305,151 daily drivers at $1,525,755/day

To me, after seeing the numbers, it feels like the cyclist thing is just a way of making angry drivers feel better about being gauged, because I doubt that the $5000/day intake for cyclists can really justify putting in a toll system on 3 bridges.

Underground Park, think it would be awesome if Reddit showed some support! by fluffysealin nyc

Everyone laughed at me when I recommended Go Kart track, but it's so much better than a dark gloomy park.

You are a golden god!

He could be one of the guys walking towards or away from the car, they take pictures only every few seconds.

The area you described has very few quiet two-way streets, it looks like the signs indicate that this is one, right?

Are you sure it couldnt be W.Village or UES?
