i never said they should "suck it up." there is a mess. those that made the mess don't seem to care. OP and roommate do care quite a bit, evidentially. what else should they do but clean it up themselves or wait until monday when it's apparently someone else's problem? meanwhile, they can bring the issue to their RA's attention... not leave a note and post on reddit while their living space remains a dump.

i'm not excusing the offenders' behavior, but as long as they do not care, what else can be done? is OP and roommate going to "teach them a lesson?" c'mon.
