Hi guys, I could use some uplift.. by badday101in flying

[–]spinfire 0 points1 point ago

Landing on the nose is expensive.

You definitely don't want to push on the balloon/bounce in my Cardinal. The nose is fairly heavy, the stabilator is extremely effective even at low speeds, and with an RG the nose gear is especially delicate. If you do get a single bounce or balloon the correct response is to simple freeze the elevator exactly where it is. You can add a tiny burst of power to cushion the landing. Add a bit more pitch attitude as necessary.

If you bounce for the second time in a Cardinal, or any airplane really, go around.

Generally this technique served me well in the 172 too and is a safer and better response than pushing ever is.

I pity the poor pilot who sees the fireman with the hose and the EMTs and the ambulance pull up and assumes they are going to try and give him a high colonic.

Two questions for ATC from a pilot by brotein-shakein ATC

[–]spinfire 1 point2 points ago

I've heard that when you check in after a handoff it is a good idea to say the vector if you have been assigned one. When you get a vector the controller is also supposed to give you a reason, so when you check in you can just say "Boston Approach Cardinal 52667 level 5500 assigned heading 120 for traffic". This way you avoid the "dangling vector" problem.

I'm a pilot though, ATC can let me know if they like this. I like to make your job easy so you help me :)

The first stop on my long solo XC was at Portland (PWM) with two jets cleared to land behind me!

I have a video of that, including views of them landing behind me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vw4Qd-z3y0w

I flew my long student solo XC on memorial day and one of the destinations was LCI (Laconia,NH). Clearly lots of rich people were visiting the lakes region because there was a ton of business jet activity. I had some experience with uncontrolled fields but not jets in the pattern at uncontrolled fields. I was established on a downwind and made my call which was immediately followed by "Citation 123AB downwind" and My immediate thought was that I was seconds from being run over by this jet...

I made a panicked call stating that I was also on the downwind and he must have sensed the panic in my voice because his response was "Citation is on a downwind five miles out". I breathed a big sigh of relief as I realized naturally the jet flies jet sized patterns :). I was clear of the runway in time and I got to chat with the pilot a bit once I got to the FBO to stretch my legs.

My wife will use spit to lubricate a hand job. She'll just lick some spit onto her hand and then it is nice and slippery for my cock. She is very good at it...

If we were in a car quickie scenario cumming in her mouth is easiest and cleanest. In bed, I also like to cum on her tits or face.

You can buy some zip tie handcuffs from JT's Stockroom (NSFW!). Great for taking someone down quickly .. quickly bring them to that vulnerable hands behind the back position. You MUST have trauma shears or something else handy to cut them free in case of emergency. There is no way to release them other than cutting them free.

They are single use, of course. I haven't used up the ones I got yet but you can probably buy them in bulk for cheaper because these are exactly the same style as used for riot police...

( I found them (this one is SFW) for $1.55 each when purchased in 100 count )

How does a commercial jetliner adjust to the uneven thrust distribution when only one of its engines is in use? by hitmon22in askscience

[–]spinfire 1 point2 points ago

Are you talking about AA 587? There was no engine out. The cause was the separation of the vertical stabilizer due to the First Officer's excessive and inappropriate rudder inputs in response to a wake turbulence encounter. Steady rudder applied in an engine out scenario would not cause this.

As a pilot I would like to point out that technically the lift of the wing turns the airplane. The ailerons roll the wing so it provides the lift vector in horizontal and vertical directions.

I'm confused. Above you stated "No one will touch her" suggesting that no one would issue insurance for the property. But here you say NFIP offered a quote of $150/mo to cover the property. Sounds like a bargain to me if you are in a flood plain.

I've worked with both "time building" instructors and "lifetime" instructors. If you build up a significant amount of time in a particular type or get an internet reputation as an excellent instructor you will be able to make a good bit higher than the $15-17 hour because you're working as an independent instructor and the student is paying you $50 directly instead of the flight school.

That said, the people I've worked with who do this do not instruct as their full time job. One writes smartphone apps and one flies an EMS helicopter as "day job". The reality is it may be quite difficult to keep yourself busy full time as an independent CFI.

The EPA numbers for this car are full of crap, too. I have a 2010 Golf TDI (essentially same engine) and our lifetime average Mpg is over 44! And in the warmer spring weather I have been routinely topping 50mpg average across my afternoon commute (start to stop, 20 miles mostly highway 70mph). Whoever drove the car for the EPA must not have known about the sixth gear or something...

Carrying-on flight bag while flying commercially. by 0onskin flying

VFR pilots, do me a favor. by Baettin flying

[–]spinfire 1 point2 points ago

Interesting. I've never flown a Diamond. I'm guessing the reason for going full rich during the entire descent is to make sure you don't forget it later. Still, it seems especially odd if the descent is from a high altitude. If there is anything that causes "shock cooling" as indicated by my engine analyzer it is going full rich combined with a throttle back...

VFR pilots, do me a favor. by Baettin flying

[–]spinfire 1 point2 points ago

Why are you going full rich for an idle power descent? There is no reason to do this, it over cools the engine and can lead to fouling.

I think it depends on what computer system your transponder code is assigned through. Did you talk to ATC "Center" or just "Approach" ?
