Don't just cling onto the scraps of your faith, do more research from multiple perspectives and be prepared to move on to whatever makes the most sense. You found something appalling about your religion and that's not because you don't understand it (the bible is very clear that god can be a dick sometimes). You can try to find a reason to keep your faith, that's great, but only if you also examine the other side because there is something there. Don't listen to the people telling you that you are not capable of understanding god, because you are. Ask some questions in /r/atheism and check out some atheist literature. If you find it unconvincing, then it could strengthen your faith. If not, then you learned something and will be able to make a more informed decision about leaving or keeping your religion.
